What's up everybody?! Allow me to introduce myself quickly, and welcome you to the blog. My name is Steve, I work full time and I'm a part time real estate investor alongside my wife. Our goal with investing is to create time freedom; financial freedom is the coveted byproduct of that goal, but having the time freedom to create the financial freedom is the true goal.

I'm Los Angeles born & raised, so naturally that's currently where I live and where our investment properties are. I've been an investor for a few years now and I'm still on the upswing of my investing career. Los Angeles is a difficult market with a fairly high barrier to entry because of price, so understanding some of the intricacies of investing goes a long way. In reality, I was trapped by the idea of investing in my own backyard and it definitely made things harder, but we learned to navigate the LA real estate geography. As I continue to move forward, I've learned that you don't need to invest where you're most comfortable, you need to invest where it makes the most sense.

I'm big on wealth building, fitness, and travel so don't be surprised if those topics infiltrate this blog a bit. I'm also not a very long-winded person, so you can count on this blog to be informative, useful, and to the point.

However, with that said, I still want to pass along any knowledge that I have to other new and intermediate investors. Over the years I've spent countless hours reading books, speaking with professionals in the field, doing deals, listening to audio books, and perusing the internet in an effort to learn as much as possible. One thing I can say, from experience, is there is a ton of information out there. I wanted to do my part to create a source of simple but comprehensive material that readers can easily refer to when doing research, thus this blog was born.

A little about Summerland Investments...

The company was named after our daughter, and founded on the principles of community service and development of not only generational wealth, but generational knowledge. What started out as just a few rentals, and a holding company for our assets, has flourished into a living and breathing entity. We're continuing to learn and grow as a business and as individual investors, and we're aiming to increase our involvement in the real estate community. Beyond carrying homes for rent, we are slowly branching into design and development as well, and have aspirations to join the international housing and hospitality industry.

I plan on getting pretty personal on this blog, because I want you to be able to come here and find what you're looking for, comfortably. Whether the topic is getting your finances in check for investing, international real estate, or something as simple as finding an agent, I want to provide a welcoming environment for anyone that's interested. Speaking of being comfortable, we're new to the blogging scene, so give us a minute to get our feet wet, and we'll get to work here.

Welcome to Summerland!
